Method description

Samples are saponified by refluxing in ethanolic KOH. The extracts are diluted to known volumes and are submitted to reverse-phase HPLC analysis using a C8 column with isocratic elution. Alpha-tocopherol is detected using a fluorescence detector. Quantitation is performed by comparison to a standard curve.
